Short days and skiing around Tromsø

Very good protected city harbour of Tromsø. But very busy with a lot of tourist heading out for whalewatching.

With the colder temperatures we had ice inside on the windows and found out, that not all of them have been isolatet very well.

On a warmer day, we optimiced the insulation in different parts of the boat...

...and also in the workshop room.

Going for a walk at midday - the people of Tromsø are very sportiv (skiing, running, cycling, cross-country skiing) albeit there is a lo of snow. Some of them go even to work on skis.

Almost one meter of snow in 24h - the people of Tromsø don't realy care. The road are kept white, but the cars, busses and bycicles have no troubel at all (using spikes).

Heading out early in the morning for skiing - all the paying station for bridges, tunnels and ferries are automated. We don't know yet, if they will be happy with our "ZH" number from switzerland...

...to the top uf Ullstinden (1'078m).

Another very windy day.

Looking towards the Lyngen mountains.

On the upper part, the snow was windblown and very hard. But the lower part in perfect powder :-)

Using the dark days for more puzzles.

Starting in the town at 9a.m. and...

...heading up to the first point of Kjølen (500m) serveral days in a row.

Sometimes only the headtorch helpes.

Cold and windy...

Great powder slopes :-)

Heading to Skattøra - the place we have planed to have the boat for the next two month.

Still a lot of snow falling - shovling several times a day.

Again up to Kjølen, because...

...it's a safe place concerning the avalanches.

This time with friends from the Belgian sailboat Mencia.

Again deep powder - when you stop, you will sink to your hip into the deep snow.

Snowshoveling the norwegian way - all over town there are more than hundred caterpillars and trucks, transporting the snow into the sea.

Afternoon walk to the other side of the bridge and visiting...

...the 60 year old Arctic Cathedral...

...with it's impressive concrete construction.

Inside there is an organ with 2'940 pipes.

Another nice (meaning not stormy) day for another mountain.

This time we start a bit earlier, because the trip up to Botnfjellet (844m) takes more than 3h.

Great view around 11a.m.

And the view back to the fjord, where we started.

Beautiful colours to the west.

Finally made it to the top and...

...are very happy, that it's not dark yet.

Back in the town on the boat around 5p.m.
