Northern lights in Akkarfjord

Because the app promises strong Northern Lights activity, we arrive early at a remote beach.

Very slowly it's getting darker.

And soon the first rays are approaching from the west...

...and heading over the mountains. After a short while, we received an unexpected visitor...

...who kept us also company for hours in the following nights.

The only challange was, to keep him away from the camera tripod.

Before the northern lights left, they got really strong again.

During the days we explored...

...many of the surrounding mountains (seldom higher then 300m).

Still a lot of berries...

...and mushrooms are growing.

Almost around every corner you can find a sheep.

Because it's very dry (there is a fire danger warning), the mushrooms started to split...

...and many of them are beeing eaten by...

...this guys.

Still, there is enough to collect and dry.

Very slowly, the fall is arriving, and soon there will be a lot of snow.

On the west coast of Sørøya, you can find a lot of sandy beaches and huge sand dunes.

Processing mushrooms every morning...

...and every evening.

Also every day a lot of blueberries...

...and now the lingonberries are also finally ripe.

Beside the ferry landing, there is a small store, where we get our daily ice cream. And the two dogs of the owner, are greeting joyfil every single habitant, who returns back to the island.

One weekend, there was a country music event (50 guests from the island / 70 from Hammerfest). Because some helpers were sick, we were able to step in and work there all evening

On another stormy day, we had a visitor, who blocked our way on the pontoon.

So we waited until he ate his fish...

...and jumped in the water again.

This evening, the nothern lights are predicted to get very strong. So we headed again out of the village, where there is no light. And after half a minute...

...the cat joined us again.

Again, the lights started in the west...

...continued above us...

...all the way to the eastern sky.

Some times the vanish suddenly...

...and you can see the stars again. Mostly we had...

...to wait no more than half an hour, until...

...the northern lights reapeared.

Honestly, it's very hard to see...

...all the different colours by eye. Mostly we saw them in green with some shades in violet.

Only the camera brings forth...

...all the breathtaking colours. On the other side, you don't see in the photos, the fascinating movements of the northern lights.
