Vast tundra and hike towards Finnland

Planing the long hike, form Alta almost to the border of Finnland.

The first part goes througt the Østerelvdalen with lots of birchtrees.

Wonderful an delicious mushrooms - collecting them for dinner.

Going up to the mountain plateau.

Enjoying the view back and giving my back a rest of the heavy backpack.

Far views and totaly alone. I met only five other persons (on from Graubünden) over the three days.

Many Reindeer antlers from last fall were lying around.

Well marked trail.

All the way I could hear the peeping sound of the golden plover.

Friedly long-tailed jaeger.

No ending in sigth.

Cooling down at least three times a day in the many lakes on the way :-)

Thankful for the cooling wind. It also blowes off all the anoying mosquitos - there must have been millions of them...

The weather was great and hot. For sleeping and hiding from the mosquitos, I used only the innertent.

No noises, endless view, great natur.

Fall is arriving...

Picking cloudberries for breakfast, while fighting the mosquitos.

There are also a lot of delicious mushrooms in the tundra.

That you don't forget how far you still need to go - after 15 hours, almost halfeway.

Cooling down again and again (25°-30°C in the shadow).

Early in the morning, the frogs sitting just beside the path.

Waterfillingstation - it's possible to drink the water directly out of the rivers an big lakes.

After a long hot day of 40km and hurting feets, I was so glad to reach the planed campingspot.

Closer to the Karasjohka river the trees got biger. The trail ends in a big pineforest.

Out of the tent, well hidden from the mosquitos, I could watch the sunset over the tundra.
