Svartisen Glacier and heading to the Lofoten

Heading to Rødøya...

... with it's well known, very steep mountain.

Again, there are hundreds of steps...

...taking us through lush forests...

...in less than an hour to the 440m high peak.

Beautiful clar view, to the last to visited mountains.

...with the drone (almost loosing her due to winds more than 30kn).

Couldn't get enough of this view :-)

Evening walk along the shores...

...and to the feet of the today climbed mountain.

Now the sails are set for the fjords, stretching far inland...

... almost to the Svartisen glacier.

Nice hike...

... over colourful stones...

... to the impressive Engabreen, an outlet glacier of Svartisen.

The entire glacier, which consists of two parts, measures almost 370km2.

View back to the glacier lake and the sea.

Near the ice...

... the air grew quiet cold.

Depending on the sunlight, the ice appears in shades of blue.

Warming up on the warm rocks...

...before taking a refreshing bath in the glacier stream.

We continue to enjoy the unusually warm weather and...

...the peace and quiet (the tourist season won't start for another few weeks) - most of the time we are alone.

Fantastic view from the boat-kitchen

The weather forecast changes daily, so we weren't surprised when a window suddenly opened for a trip to Lofoten.

The windless day before the crossing we spent in a remote anchorage.

Well buried anchor...

Daniela explores the surrounding islands by kayak.

Quiet place, there are only some birds and moose tracks.

Heading back with the drone, after I had an attacking bird on the display...

Quiet evening, before the uneventful crossing...

... to the south of the Lofoten. At first glance, a dreary place. But the mountains hold many pleasant surprises for the next days...
