Concluding the Circumnavigation of Iceland

Nice view to the mainland of Iceland - the big cruising ships can not enter the harbour :-)

The bad weather has arrived

And is shaking our boat, even in this very well protected place

Impressive museum about the volcanic outbreak 1973, with stories told by still living habitants of the Vestmannaeyjar

The museum is built around a dug out house (half of the town was burried below 30m of lava and ashes

The firefighters cooling the lava with massiv ammounts of sea water to creat a protective wall

Heading off to the eastcost of Iceland, from where it is one day less sailing to the Faroe than from the Vestmannaeyjar

Beautiful and calm evening

Nice colours above the glaciers

Stunning northern lights

Not possible to take a picture on a moving boat

The wind is finally picking up

Full speed up the eastcoast

Fast cooking in the rough sea

Sailing against 35kn of wind, which one is funneling out of the fjords

Calm again, when we approach Neskaupstadur

Almost there, difficult to go against the tide

Back in Neskaupstadur after two month - concluding the Circumnavigation of Iceland :-)

Calm next day, time to relaxe in the near public hot tub and catching up sleep for the next long crossing the the Faroe Islands
